Shields and Wards

This lesson is meant to teach you the difference between shields and wards and the proper use of each.

The Differences between a Shield and a Ward:
Shielding and Warding can be a witches best friend. Proper Shields and wards can defend against the dark magic or simply keep a person’s bad mood from clouding the aura.
Although shields and wards are very similar, they are also very different. A shield, in the magickal sense, is a sphere of energy that completely surrounds a person body.
And it usually hovers between four to six inches from the surface of the skin.
Shields are commonly mistaken for the aura. But it isn’t, whilst an aura is ever-changing depending on mood, health, and physic wellness, the shield usually aren’t affected by emotional stress.
A ward is only a partial shield, meaning that a ward doesn’t cover the entire body but only say the front half. a Ward is more commonly thought of a wall of energy that separates two people. The most common use for a ward is in shorthand magical combat. Aka. Astral combat.

Difference types of Shields:

In the classification of shields, there are three main types and two lesser types. The main three are known as Defensive, Offensive and Obscuring shields. Depending on which shield you use, you can do anything from defense to disappearing.

1.) Defensive Shield- This shield is considered to be the most common and most widely used shield out of all the classifications. It can be done at any experience level and is normally the easiest to maintain. A Defensive shield is a shield that blocks or deflects another person attack (or bad mood, or astral garbage)

2.) Offensive Shield- The second most common, the Offensive shield is a shield that does damage when a personal attack. This shields can repel assailants attack back at them without leaving the karmic aftermath upon you.

3.) Obscuring Shield- An Obscuring shield is that hardest and most complex out of all the shields to do. What this shield does is it literally takes your energy/aura and spreads it so thinly that it becomes transparent to the physic eye. This shield can be used to blend in with a crowd or at a party or when you do not wish to be seen.

Lesser shields:

The first of the two lesser shields is known as the Glamour Shield or the camouflage Shield. This shield is most commonly used by the world of the Fae. It is a shield that changes the outward appearance to shift into something more. It is hard for those who have the ability to control it and more often than not, they cannot. This shield can be learned through meditation and practice, but even still it is complex and takes vast amounts of energy to maintain.
The second shield is known as a combination. This shield literally is as its name entails. It is a combination of all the shields listed prior. It is by far the most difficult to attempt and even maintain.
